TelePrompTer Critics
As if we don’t have any real news to talk about, now certain tabloid DJs are harping on the fact that President Obama uses a TelePromTer.
Hello! It was invented in 1950 and many people including Groucho Marx, Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson and presenters at the Academy Awards have used it. Every president since Eisenhower have benefited from the invention. Yes, even the Messiah - Reagen - himself used it!
I would rather President Obama spend his time working on the myriad problems this country faces instead of being holed up somewhere memorizing a speech.
The radical right’s favorite bad boy, Dubya, also used the prompter — a phonetic telepromter –when he spoke before the UN General Assembly. It seems he needed a little help in remembering how to pronounce the foreign names (Reuters). But hey, that’s what it’s for; I don’t have a problem with that at all.
To quote Nicolle Wallace, former Bush communications director who worked for Senator John McCain last year, “Mr. Obama should stick with success. I’d say for a guy known around the world for being as effective as he is at communicating, he shouldn’t change a thing. If that’s what works for him, that’s what he should do.”
For any of George W Bush’s supporters to critisize anyone’s speeches is ridiculous. Not everyone is cut out to do public speaking. Mr. Bush is the worst speaker of all our presidents and he is always defended by former staff members and the talking heads.
So let’s stop the stupid stuff and talk about things that are important. If you truly do have what you think is a better idea about something, then let’s hear it. Our country is divided enough, you don’t need to keep stirring the pot…oh yeah, that’s how you guys and gals get ratings. That’s unAmerican. Shame on you.
